    The primary goal of SPAN 1502 is to enable students to achieve basic communicative skills in Spanish. By the end of the semester, you should be able to do the following:

    · Understand spoken Spanish in conversations directed to you about topics with which you are familiar, and understand the main ideas of videos in Spanish about topics with which you are familiar

    · Speak Spanish well enough to communicate simple ideas and get around in a Spanish-speaking country;

    · Handle the basic language functions and forms (tenses including some use of the past tense) in simple sentences in speaking and writing

    · Understand the main ideas and some details of short texts including announcements, advertisements, brochures and short paragraphs with cultural information

    · Write short texts including paragraph length texts and some multi-paragraph writings with transition words

    · Understand some of the cultural values, products and practices of the Hispanic world.

    REFUND POLICY: As access to the coursework is available immediately upon enrollment, any requests to drop after enrollment has occurred will be refunded at a reduced rate, reflecting a $150 administrative fee, through the first seven (7) calendar days of coursework access, so long as the course has not been completed within that seven-day period. Refunds are not eligible for any courses that have been completed. Any requests to drop a course on or following the eighth (8th) calendar day of coursework access will not be refunded.
